It's said that public speaking is the number one fear of most people. NOT ME! I love speaking to groups at schools, libraries, discussion groups, book festivals, while waiting for the bus, etc. To be fair, I'm absolutely terrified of swans. They are mean, stubborn creatures who will bite you for no reason at all and don't get me started on how an ostrich once bite my finger so hard I had to go to the emergency room. I'm terrified of those long-legged creatures but I digress.

I'm writer, but I'm also an educator and a performer so I can do a presentation that will both entertain and meet your specific classroom goals. I have over 15 years of classroom experience and all of my presentations are interactive and discussion based. I never lecture at students (unless of course you want that).  I've given presentations at schools and libraries across the US and in Europe and South America and I work with a wide range of age groups from elementary school students to adults in both formal and informal settings. You can read my full bio here.

As a teacher, I know that planning a visit takes a great deal of time and that you are responsible for making sure the visit addresses specific learning outcomes. I'll work with you and to make sure everything goes smoothly and the event is a success in the eyes of students, administrators and parents. I’m also happy to work with your budget to plan an event that works for everyone.

The Dorie Dilts books specifically deal with science and creativity so if you are looking for an interdisciplinary collaboration between your science and language arts classes I can work with you to develop a collaborative project. Commercial Breaks is focused on performing arts and creativity and presentations related to this series are best suited for language and performing arts classes. In addition to presentations based on my books, I also do presentations on creativity, the writing process and book publishing. I often do staff trainings or teacher development workshops related to writing across the curriculum.

I travel a lot so you never know when I might be in your area and able to do a visit easily. If you are within 100 miles or so of NYC I can get to you without issue. If you are further away, you might also consider a virtual Skype visit. I've done plenty of these so if you've never done one, don't worry. I'll take you through the process step by step.

Reviews
"P.G. Kain charmed the tweens and the adults at our library! His witty, thoughtful talk drew in patrons and he was beyond generous during the question and answer period. His books flew off the shelves after his visit and one teen revealed that he inspired her to write!"
Sarah Hamfeldt, Young Adult Librarian, Northside Library, Charlottsville, VA

"P.G. gave an absolutely exceptional presentation. The kids were ecstatic to meet the author of the books they were reading! It was like having a rock star visit and P.G. did not disappoint. They loved him. After the event there was a new energy around books and reading. It was fantastic! "
Pam Cobrin, Director of Writing and Speaking Programs at Barnard College,
mother of student at Steven Gaynor School, New York, NY
